Virtual Campus kicks off 2025 with strong growth in new users and course enrollments
Contenido

During the first quarter of 2025, the Virtual Campus for Public Health (VCPH) registered significant growth in both reach and usage, reinforcing its role as a key platform for strengthening health capacities across the Region of the Americas.

Between January and March, 184,140 new users joined the platform—22,567 more than in the same period of 2024. This figure represents about 25% of the total new users recorded throughout all of 2024.

Course enrollments also saw a notable increase, reaching 578,500—a 27% rise compared to the first quarter of the previous year.

This growth was observed not only at the regional level but also across country nodes: more than 60% of countries saw over a 10% increase in new users and enrollments compared to the same quarter in 2024. Among the countries with the most significant progress were Haiti and El Salvador.

In Haiti, the launch in October 2024 of the self-paced course “Preparatory training for social service,” developed in coordination with the Ministry of Health, marked a turning point. The course, now a mandatory requirement for graduates in health careers, helped double the number of users and enrollments in the first quarter of 2025 compared to the same period in the previous year.

In El Salvador, following the signing of an agreement with the Ministry of Health in 2024, the dissemination of regional VCPH courses has been strengthened based on national training priorities. This resulted in an increase of over 50% in new users. One of the most notable courses is the “Manual for food handlers,” which accounted for 74% of all course enrollments in the country during this period, after it was made a requirement to obtain a sanitary license.

This momentum reflects the sustained work of national nodes, in collaboration with health authorities, academic institutions, and other strategic actors, aimed at expanding access to health training and responding to country needs.
