Virtual course: Teaching in Virtual Environments: Designing, Managing, and Tutoring with Innovation

Introduction

This course aims to strengthen teaching capacities in health sciences to promote innovative and sustainable teaching practices in virtual environments, aligned with current and future public health challenges in the region, both within the Virtual Campus of Public Health (CVSP) and other educational institutions in the health sector.

Target Audience

  • Health professionals involved in teaching activities within the CVSP or other public health education platforms.
  • Teachers who will take on tutoring roles in virtual public health platforms at the regional level and/or country nodes within the CVSP.
  • Current or potential coordinators of courses within the CVSP or other public health educational platforms.

Competencies to Develop

  • Design and implement educational proposals in virtual environments, contextualized in the health field, integrating pedagogical principles, good tutorial practices, and critical use of artificial intelligence tools to promote meaningful teaching and learning processes.
  • Understand the essential challenges of virtual teaching and the tutoring role to adapt practices and provide committed, contextualized, and coherent tutoring aligned with learners' needs.

Main Objective

Develop criteria and pedagogical guidelines for the design, development, and implementation of educational proposals in virtual environments.

Duration

The course lasts 10 weeks, with an estimated workload of 3–4 hours per week. It will be offered in Spanish and English.

Modality

The course combines an asynchronous journey through teaching materials available on the CVSP, asynchronous individual and/or group activities through the CVSP, and synchronous workshops via Zoom. The workshops will include interactive activities among participants and instructors. Participants will be supported by tutors throughout the course.

All activities are complementary and mandatory.

Requirements for Completion and Certification

Before completing the form, review your schedule to ensure you can meet the academic requirements during the 10 weeks, which include completing various activities and participating in synchronous sessions. These sessions will be held on Thursdays in the morning or around midday according to the corresponding time zone, on the following dates: 18/09, 09/10, 30/10, and 20/11. Participants who complete all activities will be able to download their CVSP certificate for 40 hours of study.
