About the course:

This course introduces combined HIV prevention and PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis), providing technical tools for its proper implementation and monitoring in the region.

Course Purpose

Strengthen the technical capacity of personnel involved in HIV prevention programs, facilitating the implementation of PrEP services within the framework of combined prevention, with a focus on quality, safety, monitoring, and programmatic impact.

  1. Understand combined prevention and the role of PrEP.
  2. Identify individuals eligible for PrEP and clinical criteria.
  3. Administer and safely monitor oral and injectable PrEP.
  4. Apply key indicators for programmatic monitoring.
  5. Promote early diagnosis and linkage to ART (antiretroviral treatment).
  6. Implement network strategies to expand testing.

Course structure

The course is organized into nine thematic modules and a final closing module, with a total estimated duration of 11 hours. Each module combines technical readings, audiovisual materials, case studies, and self-assessment exercises.

• Module 2. Evidence and formulations of oral and injectable PrEP
• Module 3. Clinical eligibility and inclusion criteria
• Module 4. Administration and safe monitoring of PrEP

• Module 7. Early diagnosis and linkage to ART
• Module 8. Networks and smart testing strategies
• Module 9. Prevention of advanced HIV disease
• Module 10. Complementary resources and final evaluation

Assessment and certification

At the end of the modules, participants must complete the Final Exam, which consists of a questionnaire with Multiple Choice and True/False questions.

The Final Exam is designed to offer participants multiple opportunities to answer correctly until they achieve the required score of at least 70%, accessing different groups of questions on each attempt.

To obtain the certificate of completion, participants must meet the following requirements:

Complete all modules.
Complete the exercises satisfactorily.
Pass the Final Exam.
