Virtual Permanent Education in the Health Field - Presentation on the Initiative to Strengthen Trainers' Capacity to Design and Manage Virtual Courses
Webinar organized by the Virtual Campus for Public Health (VCPH) of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), in cooperation with the University Institute Italian Hospital of Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, PAHO's Virtual Campus has been actively accompanying the regional, subregional, and country levels in the strategic use of its platform. In these last two years, and thanks to the accumulated experience, it was possible to rapidly increase the use of available resources and the use and dissemination of new materials and content aimed at supporting the training and permanent education of health personnel and to face the emergency.
In its permanent mission to improve accessibility to public health education and bring knowledge closer to practice, the VCPH proposed to support the development of training capacities in virtual education, through the Initiative to Strengthen Trainers' Capacity to Design and Manage Virtual Courses. During 2021, this initiative focused on two lines of work: During 2021, this initiative focused on two lines of work: 1) Updating the conceptual frameworks of the Educational Approach that guides the VCPH, and 2) Development of open access materials for public health trainers that can accompany and strengthen educational practices within the VCPH, but also from any educational institution in the health sector. The new Educational Approach offers the conceptual framework for educational proposals that will be incorporated into the PAHO educational platform. These materials are open available in the VCPH in Spanish and English (links below), in a space specially designed for training of trainers.
