Welcome to Certified Webinar Series I
Introduction
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is profoundly reshaping the way health systems prevent, diagnose, monitor, and care for people. Its responsible and ethical use can be a key tool to close access gaps, optimize resources, and improve health outcomes. However, its application also raises challenges in terms of equity, privacy, transparency, and data quality.
In light of this new paradigm, health workers need to develop a critical understanding of the potential and limitations of AI in the health sector. This introductory series is part of PAHO’s digital health training pathway and aims to provide basic tools to help health teams understand, evaluate, and support digital transformation processes driven by artificial intelligence.
Objective
To provide knowledge about the impact of artificial intelligence on health, its main public health challenges, and the ethical and regulatory frameworks that should guide its implementation in health systems across the region.
