Introduction
Artificial Intelligence (AI) profoundly reshaping the way health systems prevent, diagnose, monitor, and care for people. When used responsibly and ethically, it can be a key tool to reduce access gaps, optimize resources, and improve health outcomes. However, its implementation also presents challenges related to equity, privacy, transparency, and data quality.
In this new paradigm, health workers need to develop a critical understanding of the potential and limitations of AI in the health sector. This second cycle is part of PAHO’s digital health training pathway and aims to provide information to support the application of AI tools in public health.
Objectives
- Provide knowledge on prompt engineering applied to Public Health.
- Develop skills for prompt usage.
- Understand its risks and how to mitigate them.
Target Audience
General health workers.
No prior technical knowledge in computer science or artificial intelligence is required.
Learning Path and Methodology
The cycle is structured into three interconnected components, a selection of recommended readings, and an evaluation per content:
1. Audiovisual content
- Webinar 1: Learning Networks and Collaboration Platforms in Clinical Care
- Webinar 2: Using Prompts with Purpose: How Better Instructions Enhance AI for Public Health Content Generation - Part 1
- Webinar 3: Using Prompts with Purpose: How Better Instructions Enhance AI for Public Health Content Generation - Part 2
2. Reading
- PAHO’s Prompts guide
- AI prompt design for public health: Using generative AI responsibly
Duration
5 hours.
Evaluation
You will have 3 attempts to answer each evaluation correctly. The evaluations include multiple-choice questions, True or False items, and Matching questions.
Certificate
A digital certificate of participation will be issued by the Virtual Campus for Public Health (VCPH) of PAHO upon completion of the learning cycle and evaluation tools.
