The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) held the second meeting of the series of virtual seminars on Essential Public Health Functions (EPHFs), that focused on explaining how monitoring and evaluation can strengthen the capacities of health authorities to respond to the health needs of the population.

Human Resources for Health Action Task Force launched in the Caribbean
On 20 April 2021, the Caribbean-Community (CARICOM) launched the Human Resources for Health Action Task Force for the Caribbean, as part of the response to COVID-19 and other health emergencies in the Sub-region. PAHO will be acting as Secretariat and will provide technical cooperation to the HRH-ATF, mainly through the Sub-regional Program.
Caribbean private sector community discuss efforts on vaccine distribution and rollout
On 28 April, the International Chamber of Commerce, together with the Trinidad and Tobago Chamber, CARICHAM, and the CARICOM Private Sector Organization, hosted a webinar on “The role of the private sector in the vaccination rollout process”. The goal of this activity was to provide the private sector community in CARICOM with insight into multilateral efforts on vaccine distribution and rollout.

PAHO completes the pilot project on malaria pharmacovigilance in Brazil
PAHO finished the pilot project “Strengthening Pharmacovigilance and Adherence to Malaria Treatment in the Region of the Americas (VigilADMa).” The country was the first to implement and complete the action, developed in the municipality of Manaus, State of Amazonas, from November 2019 to December 2020.
