This PAHO course teaches how to optimize health supply chains through efficiency, resilience, and innovation to ensure equitable access to essential medicines and health products.

Course Purpose

This course will help you navigate these challenges by introducing a practical, system-wide approach: Life-Cycle Efficiency Thinking.

Competencies the course aims to develop

The course provides opportunities to develop the following competencies:

  • Analyzes logistics processes to identify opportunities for cost optimization and waste reduction.
  • Applies efficiency criteria in transportation, storage, and distribution decisions. 
  • Evaluates the impact of logistics decisions in terms of cost, time, and sustainability.

Target audience

  • PAHO Procurement Team (central and regional staff)

  • PAHO Revolving Fund and Strategic Fund staff (involved in vaccines, medicines, diagnostics procurement and delivery)

  • Country office procurement and supply chain officers (supporting Member States)

  • Warehouse and logistics managers within PAHO operations

  • Module 5: Innovation - Accessing New Products, Technologies, and Delivery Model

Assessment and certification

At the end of the modules, participants must complete the Final Exam, which consists of a questionnaire with Multiple Choice and True/False questions.

The Final Exam is designed to offer participants multiple opportunities to answer correctly until they achieve the required score of at least 70%, accessing different groups of questions on each attempt.

To obtain the certificate of completion, participants must meet the following requirements:

  • Complete all modules.
  • Complete the exercises satisfactorily.
  • Pass the Final Exam.
