More than 40 social security officials from 17 countries gathered at the Inter-American Center for Social Security Studies (CIESS) for the start of the specialization "Management in Health for Older People"
This activity was conducted and sponsored by the Latin American Association for the Elderly (ALMA), the Pan American Health and Education (PAHEF), the Pan American Health and CIESS.
The opening ceremony was chaired by Dr. Miguel Angel Fernandez Pastor, Director of CIESS, Dr. Gabriel Martínez González, Secretary General of the Inter-American Conference on Social Security (CISS), Julio Suarez, Consultant in Systems Development Health Services and the PAHO in Mexico, as well as by representatives of PAHO Washington authorities, ALMA, Universidad Iberoamericana de México, Universidad San Martin de Porres of Peru and the Brazilian Ministry of Health.
It also was attended by Dr. Mirta Roses, Director of PAHO, and the MSc. Edward L. Kadunc, PAHEF Executive Director, who, through a video presentation highlighted the importance of this initiative .
Include also that during the two weeks of the initial stage presence had the visit of observers from Brazil and Argentina. This is an example of the significance of the themes of this program for Latin American societies.
Specialization "Health Management for Older People is part of the training activities of the Virtual Campus of Public Health, whose social security node is coordinated from CIESS. The first generation of this program began, with the stage presence above, which will work online for nine months.
