The Course Intensified national SARI surveillance training has started
On october beginning the Course Intensified national SARI surveillance training with the objetive To train national professionals involved in the process of integrated SARI surveillance, particularly influenza , according to WHO/PAHO updated guidelines.
Among the lessons learned from the influenza A(H1N1)pdm09 pandemic were the lack of systems for monitoring the evolution of influenza and clinical–epidemiological characteristics, especially among severe cases, and the lack of standardized systems for comparing data between countries. Thus, systems to monitor SARI have been prioritized, and should also seek to integrate clinical-epidemiological and laboratory surveillance of influenza and other respiratory viruses.
Target audience:
- Professionals from the Ministry of Health in charge of coordinating influenza surveillance.
- National epidemiologists, regional and sentinel hospitals and/or health personnel responsible for surveillance of acute respiratory infections.
- Professionals from national influenza laboratories and regional or local laboratories involved in influenza surveillance.
