The Director of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), Carissa F. Etienne, has welcomed the United Nations High-Level Political Declaration on Universal Health Coverage, adopted on September 23 by world leaders at the United Nations General Assembly.
PAHO prepares for the United Nations High-level Meeting on Universal Health Coverage
On 23 September 2019, the United Nations General Assembly will stage the High-level Meeting on “Universal Health Coverage: Moving Together to Build a Healthier World”. This meeting will mobilize political support at the highest-level to ensure that all people receive the health care and protection they need.

Sixty representatives from 22 countries of the Americas met in Brasilia, with speakers from the United States, United Kingdom, and Switzerland, to discuss mechanisms to strengthen the production and use of information and evidence on human resources for health in the Region of the Americas. 19 countries work together to strengthen the regulation of medical devices
National Regulatory Authorities from 19 countries of the Americas met in Bogotá, Colombia, from 2-6 September, to jointly develop strategies and exchange initiatives to strengthen the regulation of medical devices in the Region of the Americas.
PAHO organizes a Regional workshop on Health Accounts
Representatives from 16 countries of the Americas attended the Regional workshop on Health Accounts (SHA-2011) to participate in the validation process of the estimates of health expenditures and identify key financing indicators in the advancement of health systems towards universal health goals.
