The Virtual Campus for Public Health (VCPH) of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), in collaboration with the Association for Schools and Programs of Public Health (ASPPH) organized the seminar Regional Framework of Teaching Competencies in Public Health (RFTCPH) Webinar 2024 - Towards a Network of Teachers. The virtual seminar, moderated by the Faculty of Nursing and Obstetrics of the National Autonomous University of Mexico, aimed at consolidating and formalizing a network of teachers that has been articulated around the RFTCPH and was attended by more than 500 participants from all over the region.

SGTES, Fiocruz and PAHO Brazil agree on joint work strategy for the Brazil Node of the Virtual Campus for Public Health |

On the 18 and 19 of June, a workshop convened by the Secretariat of Work Management and Health Education of the Ministry of Health of Brazil (SGTES) was held to define the work priorities of the Brazil Node of the Virtual Campus. During the workshop, participants analyzed the tasks and responsibilities in the management of the Node and developed a roadmap for the strategic use of the Brazil Node of the Virtual Campus for 2024-2025.

The Virtual Campus for Public Health held a series of tutor training seminars to improve the competencies and technical capacities in virtual tutoring of its teaching teams. The seminar series, with 140 participants enrolled, featured three synchronous sessions in which participants engaged in 15 hours of training. The topics addressed were: the educational approach of the VCPH; essential competencies for teaching; and assessment of learning.

Experts from the Pan American Health Organization participated in a two-day workshop at the Joaquim Venâncio Polytechnic School of Health (EPSJV) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The workshop aimed at discussing actions to increase the access of health technicians to the Virtual Campus courses. The activities are part of a project funded by the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), which seeks to increase the capacity of health technicians in remote and underserved areas of the Region of the Americas within the framework of the post COVID-19 pandemic.

The course is part of the training itinerary to improve skills to address the needs of the elderly. Safe Hospitals is an initiative promoted by WHO and PAHO.
