Development of a Dominican Republic VCPH Node
Between March, 21 and 23 were held in the Dominican Republic, several activities to assess the conditions in this country for the development of a Virtual Campus of Public Health Node.
During a meeting with Mr. Nery Sanchez Paulino, Director of Ministry of Health Human Resources and his team, with the participation of Drs. Jose B. Jardines and Rosa María Borrell Regional Advisers PAHO / WHO and the National Human Resources Consulting Health Dr. Selma Zapata, the great interest raised by decentralizing some of the regional learning courses and the potential for the country to take advantage of CVSP tools.
Other activities undertaken included the presence of Dr. Jorge Asjana, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences at the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD) and Prof. Manuela M. Suncar, Deputy Dean of the same university, was also present Dr. Montero as the main sponsor in the Virtual School for Education. In this exchange was ratified by the Dean Asjana, interest in processes leading online education through the development of a VCPH Node in the Dominican Republic.
Dr. Alexander Suazo, Director of Primary Health Care and his team consider the need to use the tools of the VCPH to carry out the planned courses for Continuing Education and a Graduate who are designing face that could have a virtual support .
With the aim of preparing and shaping the Working Group for analysis and possible development of the VCPH Node in the Dominican Republic, held a seminar-workshop with the Deans and representatives from Dominican Universities. This was attended by 4 Deans of Faculties of Health Sciences, representatives of the National Medical Association and representatives of the Dominican Association of Faculties of Medicine which includes 9 higher education institutions, among other guests.
