PAHO urges collective action to ensure that everyone, everywhere can access health care

“Unite for universal health: now is the time for collective action” was the theme for International Universal Health Day 2018, which took place on 12 December. The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) joined the commemorations with a call to work together to find solutions that will ensure that all people have access to quality health services, without having to endure financial hardship. Health professionals from 17 countries of the Americas finished the virtual course on "Integrated health services networks (IHSN): from concept to action”, at PAHO´s Virtual Campus of Public Health. Read more

PAHO launches a report on “30 years of SUS - Which SUS for 2030?” and highlights the importance of primary health care 

The publication summarizes some of the greatest knowledge and experiences accumulated in the Unified Health System (SUS), with a view to contributing to Brazil's achievement of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Read more

Advances and challenges in Interprofessional Health Education in the Americas

From 6-7 December, 2018, took place the Third Technical Meeting on Interprofessional Health Education (IPE): Improving the capacity of human resources to achieve universal health. Several countries have advanced in IPE through the development of diverse actions in the field of research, workshops, conferences, mapping and recognition of IPE experiences. New publication: Pregnant Women & Vaccines against Emerging Epidemic Threats. Ethics Guidance for Preparedness, Research and Response

The Pregnancy Research Ethics for Vaccines, Epidemics, and New Technologies (PREVENT) Working Group released a guidance that provides a roadmap for the ethically responsible, socially just, and respectful inclusion of the interests of pregnant women in the development and deployment of vaccines against emerging pathogens.
