Countries should prepare to manage COVID-19 closely for the next 2 years
The Director of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), Carissa F. Etienne, said that “in the absence of effective treatments or a widely available vaccine, we expect that over the next two years the Region of the Americas will experience recurring COVID-19 outbreaks, which may be interspersed with periods of limited transmission.”

Working together to fight against antimicrobial resistance in Latin America
Representatives from the Ministries of Health and Agriculture from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay participated in a virtual meeting, on 27 May, 2020, organized by PAHO, FAO, OIE and the European Union to officially start the implementation of the project “Working together to fight antimicrobial resistance."
