PAHO launches a list of priority medical devices for the first level of care for the countries of the Americas
For the first time, the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) developed a List of Priority Medical Devices to be used in the first level of care according to the needs of health care in the countries of the Americas. The list was compiled from a review of the WHO Clinical Practice Guidelines. Read more

PAHO supports training in Master's and Doctoral programs for nurses in Guyana
PAHO/WHO, together with the College of Nursing of Riberão Preto at the University of São Paulo, PAHO/WHO Collaborating Center for Nursing Research Development, is supporting the training of 13 nurses in Guyana in Master's and Doctoral programs offered at the university in Brazil. Read more
PAHO launches special issues on Alma-Ata with scientific evidence in support of universal health
The Department of Health Services and Systems of PAHO partnered with the Pan American Journal of Public Health to produce a special issue that addresses specific issues in the field of primary care, with the purpose of providing scientific evidence for decision making at different levels. Read more
PAHO-supported regional regulatory mechanism yields first recommended high blood pressure and cancer medicines in CARICOM
The Caribbean Regulatory System recommended its first non-communicable disease medicines to CARICOM countries, including amlodipine for high blood pressure and anastrozole for breast cancer at the end of 2018. The mechanism is managed by CARPHA, in close technical cooperation with the Unit of Medicines and Health Technologies at PAHO. Read more
