The medical Maria Isabel Rodriguez from El Salvador was appointed Public Health Heroine of the Americas by the Pan American Health Organization / World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO). Rodriguez, of 93 years and a life devoted to education, health and science, received the award from the Director of PAHO/WHO, Carissa F. Etienne, during the 54th Directing Council of PAHO, which develops until 2 October in Washington DC.
