Presentation Content & discussion
“……The presentation   will highlight the preliminary results of the Global Burden of Disease 2010 Study, emphasizing innovations in the collection of data, novel methods of analysis, and visualization tools for data quality assessment.

The results will be contextualized for the countries of the region, and will show DALYs for more than 200 causes, as well the attributable burden for more than 40 risk factors.  This is the first complete revision of the GBD since the original GBD 1990 was published in 1996.  It utilizes vastly improved methods and a wide array of data derived from systematic reviews, constituting the largest repository of epidemiological data for purposes of GBD yet assembled.

IHME was the coordinating institution of the project with key partners such as: The University of Queensland (UQ), the World Health Organization (WHO), Harvard School of Public Health and Johns Hopkins School of Public Health (JHSPH). More than 800 disease and risk factors experts served on advisory groups to help inform the analyses…”
